About Connor

I have been making films since before I had any technical skill, creative direction or, if I'm honest - taste, making sketch comedy on a camcorder with my friends. True to the cliche at some point when in Sixth Form I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey, sparking an interest with the art of filmmaking which I hold to this day. Increasingly this interest tied together with my love of sound and music as I began to experiment with the form, something I will love doing even if the outcome isn't especially appealing which it rarely was when I started out. Having directed two student films I am quite proud of during my undergraduate degree, taking a very hands on approach to sound design with the second: 'Sleep', I still carry with me a fascination with the process, especially when working with many of the kind and talented individuals I was lucky enough to come across during this time. I have recently had the privilege of working independently to create a promotional film for recycled clothing social enterprise White Rose in Nottingham, an experience which has allowed me to take a lead on a major project while interviewing some genuinely great, insightful people at length about their involvement with the organisation which supports the Aegis Trust in the rememberance and prevention of genocide across the world. However in many ways I could have not achieved this without my experience on the ambitious student project 'Sleep' for which I acted as director, but also shared credits in the script, soundtrack, editing and also co-produced. Balancing multiple roles whilst keeping an overall vision in my mind of the finished product was something I had struggled to do in the past, often limiting my role(s) to what I was comfortable with. After these two projects, although I still have so much to learn I feel the confidence and drive to face new challenges with a positive attitude. After all - nothing can be as bad as the films I made when I was 16...
