Hi, I’m Mark, a camera trainee with bases in both London and Malta. Born in Malta, I initially gained experience in the camera department working on low budget gigs on the island, before being offered my first film job as a DIT trainee on Assassin’s Creed, which was shooting on the island at the time. From then on, I knew I wanted to work in the camera department and made this ambition my life goal. Between 2016 and 2018, I worked for Stargate Studios Malta; an international VFX studio, as their camera assistant, where my main responsibility was to shoot VFX plates/elements for several European shows the company was working on at the time. Luckily, the studio also occasionally worked on some adverts and short films, which gave me the chance to be on set. In 2019, I decided to leave the studio and relocate to London, where I successfully completed a yearlong camera assistant course at the NFTS. This year helped fill the gaps in my knowledge about the camera department, while also preparing me to start working in a new, bigger film industry. Furthermore, I also got the opportunity to learn how to work with 16 and 35mm film. Having just graduated, I wish to start meeting and getting to know new people in the camera department, who can help me to continue to grow and gain experience.
