Hi, Film Production Technology final year student here! I am currently working on my showreel on Vimeo so for now – I offer you my Adobe portfolio: https://valerijavolkova.myportfolio.com While studying in Birmingham City University, I picked up a lot of professional experience and knowledge about major production roles: DOP, camera operator, 1st AC, production sound mixer, gaffer, director, producer, editor etc. I have worked on multiple student productions, and am currently working on my final year piece as a sound person. Learning the craft from so many points of view has lead me to identify what it is in cinema production that interests me in particular, while also having a good understanding and appreciation of what happens in other departments. Personally, I aspire to join the Sound department or the DIT, while the Camera department also being within my radar. That being said, of course I will be happy for any opportunity I get – be it in the pre-, post-, production or even distribution realm. Beside that professional side, I am just as human as everyone else – with ordinary likes and interests, like watching a good film in a cinema or binging a series on Netflix. I am also an amateur street photographer and film camera collector so I know my way around film (frankly, it is my favourite medium). Being originally from Latvia, I speak three languages fluently: English, Russian, and Latvian. Traveling and living in different countries is what I want to do – so international gigs are more than welcome!
