Directing Actors

London Film Academy | London

Learn how to get the best out of your actors. The relationship between directors and actors marks an essential collaborative partnership in the filmmaking process. Clear, precise and meaningful communication helps to save time on takes, gaining your actors trust is imperative to the making of a quality film. Our practical acting workshop is tailored to the specific needs of directors to provide you with a useful set of communication skills.

We teach you how to speak to actors in their own terms. Through practical sessions, developing your experience on the other side of the lens, you will gain a deeper understanding of the actor’s perspective. Over the weekend you cover the essentials of what actors do and how, what actors expect from their director and how to communicate effectively with actors in their own language to get the performances you are looking for.

Our experienced tutors provide invaluable guidance throughout the course. Students learn how to use the techniques of various practitioners such as Meisner and Keith Johnstone.  Whether working to build dramatic tension or to add new depths to a performance, we provide a number of screen acting tips and simple techniques that will help directors get that sought-after best take.
